Beginning September 23 through October 29, say bye to blueberry lemonade and hello to hot apple cider! Morgan's Pier is back for a second run of Fall Fest, with all of the fall wonderland trimmings plus added programming and a new menu by Chef Jim Burke.
Weather-adjustable tents and outdoor heat lamps allow for an extended season, giving you the chance to sample all of the items on Burke’s fall menu, featuring highlights such as: Heirloom Squash Toast with ricotta and aged balsamic; Grilled Bratwurst Sandwich with smothered onions and sauerkraut; and Crispy Duck Confit with wilted kale and kabocha squash.
The fall beverage program includes seasonal craft beers such as Two Roads Roadsmary's Baby, 21st Amendment Back in Black and Neshaminy Creek Dunk's Ferry Dunkleweissen. To warm up a bit faster, you can try a specialty cocktail like the Coffee Cascade with vodka, amaretto liqueur, coffee and hot chocolate or the Smores with rum, hot chocolate, honey, cinnamon and a ‘mallow.
Throw one back during any of the upcoming events happening during Fall Fest. Keep reading for a breakdown of all offerings:
No-cover DJs: A full line up of DJs are scheduled for each weekend – all day Saturdays and Sundays as well as Friday and Saturday nights and no cover charges all season.
Free Beer Bingo: Every Friday from 5 to 7 p.m., Morgan’s Pier hosts Beer Bingo Happy Hour, in which you are rewarded with a beer on the Pier for winning a round.
Pumpkin Carving and Contests: Pumpkin carving is available all day on Saturdays and Sundays. Pick a pumpkin from the patch and snag a carving kit to make a stoop-worthy creation for just $5. Or for spectators, vote on a favorite during weekly themed competitions, including celebrity chefs, star DJs, hometown heroes and collegiate competitors. Winners get $500 to donate to their charity of choice.
Eagles Tailgate: The Philadelphia Eagles are scheduled for a 4:25 p.m. kickoff on Sunday, September 25. You can start their tailgate early at the Pier with a Backyard Burger and a side of lawn games. Stick around to watch the birds play the Pittsburgh Steelers and enter a scoring lottery for cash prizes.
Oktoberfest: The best part of any Oktoberfest is the free-flowing beer and an excuse to eat Bratwurst. On Sunday October 2, from 2 to 6 p.m., Morgan’s Pier will have both, plus Burnt Sienna Dueling Pianos for belting out all of the sing along drinking songs. For $35 you receive open beer bar, unlimited soft pretzels and a glass stein for the first 200 attendees. Additionally, German food specials will be available to complement the offer. Tickets on sale now at morganspier.com/Oktoberfest.
Stateside Spirit Dinner: An encore to this summer’s spirit dinner with Stateside Urbancraft Vodka, one of Philadelphia’s hottest local craft spirits, is another night with the distillery’s crew and a three-course meal from Chef Jim Burke. In honor of Fall Fest, however, the featured drinks will be hot cocktails for cool nights. The dinner is Sunday, October 9 at 6 p.m. and tickets are on sale now at www.morganspier.com/spirit-dinners.
Beaucycled DIY Succulent Workshop: The ever-popular outdoor workshop from Beaucycled comes to Morgan’s Pier on Sunday, October 16 at 12:30 p.m., where you can learn the basics of planting and caring for their very own succulent arrangement while enjoying a beer and a snack. Check www.beaucycled.com for more information and tickets.
Dog Yappy Hour: On Sunday, October 16 from 2 to 6 p.m., take advantage of a one-time only opportunity to bring your dog to dine at the Pier! In partnership with Tito’s Handmade Vodka, this fundraiser for the Pennsylvania SCPA will have giveaways for the pups but owners will be happy too – proceeds from yappy hour specials will go toward the cause, in addition to the other on site opportunities to donate. Not to be missed will be the audience-judged Worst in Show competition, a take on the World’s Ugliest Dog contest and in this election year, every vote counts.
Halloween: The grand finale of Fall Fest is Halloween – Morgan’s Pier style: the open bar bash and costume contest will end the season by inviting you all to drink the bar inventory dry. Hosted by Brittany Lynn, “The Don” of Philly’s Drag Mafia, on Saturday, October 29 from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m., with cash prizes, entry is $40 in advance, $50 at the door. Last year’s Halloween sold out, so it’s recommended to purchase early. Tickets go on sale Thursday, October 6 at noon.
Fall is just as fun as summer, so get out your flannel shirt and join us to close out another awesome year at the Pier!
